ETHZ LEE

Due to the densification in the ETH center area, new solutions for open spaces have to be created. For the new LEE building, we implemented these in the form of roof gardens with a southern flair.

The open spaces for the new LEE building are located on the roof of the institute building. The two "Secret Gardens" surprise with an emphatically exotic and foreign-looking appearance. The image is dominated by a savannah-like vegetation of succulents and xeromorphic plants of semi-arid zones, which are drought-tolerant and robust and also tolerate occasional frosts. The plants are sometimes found in our gardens, but they originated in southern Europe, the southern United States, or Africa. The selection continues the tradition of foreign plant collections at Zurichberg.
