On the edge of the municipality of Adliswil, a new district has been created at the foot of the Üetliberg—with a central park as a link between the growing municipality and its rural surroundings. The centerpiece of the park is the former market garden of the Seleger family, with the remnants of its picturesque collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. The overlapping of rural idyll, horticultural cultural moment, and future urban district will also shape the atmosphere and identity of the location in the future. Oaks, hornbeams, and pines supplement the inventory of trees of the grounds of the former market garden to create a loose ring of trees framing the central lawn area. The groves of rhododendrons between the trees become the leitmotif of the park. Cornus controversa (wedding cake trees) with their tiered growth habit and sumptuous blossoms thus supplement the picture of the groves of rhododendrons with a related, but new element. In contrast to the flat, central play lawn, the trees stand in colorfully flowering lawn. A gravel path crosses the park and benches invite spending time. In the spring, the snowdrops and crocuses bloom first, and later in the year the Cornus controversa and the rhododendrons present a poetic play of colors and forms.
